Nastran environment
Previewing Nastran solver syntax
Use the Solver Syntax Preview command to preview how a selected entity will be written out to your Nastran input file. The software displays the syntax preview in an Information window, as shown below:
Note:
By default, the software only previews the first 5000 lines of syntax for performance reasons. You can use a new Maximum Number of Output Lines for a Solver Syntax Preview customer default to increase or decrease that limit.
You can use the Solver Syntax Preview command to help validate that you have set up your model correctly prior to a solve.
Formatting options and solver version affect the previewed information
The output produced by the Solver Syntax Preview command depends on:
The specified solver version as defined by the UGII_NX_NASTRAN_VERSION or UGII_MSC_NASTRAN_VERSION environment variables. The software only previews solver syntax that is supported in the specified Nastran version.
The specified input file formatting options that you specify in either the Export Simulation dialog box (when a FEM file is active) or in the Advanced Solver Options dialog box (when a Simulation file is active).Note: The software writes out the card description information for either the first occurrence of each bulk data entry or command or for all occurrences of the bulk data entries and commands. If you select None from the Card Description list, the software still writes out the card description information for the first occurrence of each entry or command.
Previewing solver syntax from the FEM file
In a FEM file, you can use Solver Syntax Preview to preview the Nastran syntax for the selected entities in the Simulation Navigator and several dialog boxes.
When a FEM file is active, you can use the Solver Syntax Preview command to preview the syntax for the following types of entities in the Simulation Navigator:
Meshes
Elements
Coordinate Systems
Groups
To preview the syntax for nodes, use the Node/Element Information command to display information on selected elements. This information includes a list of the nodes connected to each element.
Note:
You must select the General Listing format option.
To preview the syntax for physical properties, materials, and modeling objects, use the Solver Syntax Preview option in the Physical Properties Table Manager, Manage Materials, and Modeling Objects Manager dialog boxes.
Previewing solver syntax from the Simulation file
When a Simulation file is active, within the active solution or subcase, you can use the Solver Syntax Preview command to preview the syntax for the following types of entities in the Simulation Navigator:
Loads
Constraints
Simulation objects
Simulation regions
Groups
Note:
For performance reasons, the ID values that the Solver Syntax Preview command previews may be different from the ID values that the software generates when you export or solve the input file.
