Define physical properties

You can define physical properties in the Physical Properties Table Manager, or when you edit a mesh collector.

Define physical properties with the Physical Properties Table Manager

Physical properties are created separately from the mesh. Once you create a physical property table, you can assign it to a mesh collector.

  1. Choose Home tab→Properties group→Physical Properties .

  2. In the Physical Property Tables Manager dialog box, select the physical property table type from the Type list. The available physical property table types depend on the solver type selected for the FEM or Simulation file.

  3. Enter a name and label, or use the defaults.

  4. Click Create.

  5. (Optional) Select a material from the Material list, or click Choose material and select a material. The material options are available for applicable physical property tables such as PSOLID.

  6. Enter the physical property table values, and click OK.Note: For lists of supported physical property tables for various solver types, see Supported elements and properties.

  7. Close the Physical Property Tables Manager.

Create a new physical property table by editing a mesh collector

  1. With the FEM file active, in the Simulation Navigator, right-click a mesh collector name and choose Edit.

  2. In the Mesh Collector dialog box, in the Physical Property group, select the physical property table type from the Type list.

  3. If physical property tables exist, from the list of physical property tables, select None.

  4. Click Create Physical .

  5. In the dialog box, enter a name and label, or use the defaults.

  6. (Optional) Select a material from the Material list, or click Choose material and select a material. The material options are available for applicable physical property tables such as PSOLID.

  7. Enter the physical property table values, and click OK.Note: For lists of supported physical property tables for various solver types, see Supported elements and properties.

  8. When finished, click OK in the Mesh Collector dialog box.

Edit a physical property table by editing a mesh collector

  1. With the FEM file active, in the Simulation Navigator, right-click a mesh collector name and choose Edit.

  2. In the Mesh Collector dialog box, in the Physical Property group, select the physical property table type from the Type list.

  3. From the list of physical property tables, select the table whose properties you want to edit.

  4. Click Edit .

  5. In the corresponding physical property dialog box, make your updates and click OK.

  6. Click OK in the Mesh Collector dialog box.
