Acoustics and vibro-acoustics > Simcenter Nastran FEM acoustics > Acoustic transfer vector (ATV) models (FEM acoustics)
ATV set workflow
You compute Acoustic Transfer Vectors (ATVs) using Simcenter Nastran SOL108 Acoustic Transfer Vector solution.
Simcenter Nastran stores ATVs in the xxx_atv.op2 result file.
| Step | Summary | Detailed help topic | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. | Create a convex acoustic fluid mesh around the exterior of a structural mesh. | Model the acoustic fluid as a 3D mesh with acoustic fluid properties. | Meshing for FEM acoustic analysis |
| 2. | Assign or create an acoustic fluid material for the fluid mesh. | Specify the fluid density and speed of sound. | Fluid materials for acoustic analyses |
| 3. | Remove the structural mesh from the solver list. | Select the structural mesh and choose Edit Mesh Associated Data. In the Mesh Properties group, clear the Export Mesh to Solver check box. | Mesh Associated Data dialog box |
| 4. | Create a microphone mesh using a mesh primitive or by manual methods. | Define microphones in the model to measure pressure results. | Mesh primitives for acoustics and vibro-acoustics analysis |
| 5. | Create a new Simulation and make it the work part. | Select the FEM file and choose New Simulation. | New dialog box |
| 6. | Create a new solution. | Set the Solver to Nastran, the Analysis Type to Acoustic, and the Solution Type to SOL 108 Acoustic Transfer Vector. | Solutions and solving |
| 7. | In the Solution dialog box, on the Case Control page, create an Acoustic Transfer Vector Output Request. | You select Free-Faces, the Microphone Selection, and include or exclude any Infinite Planes.Note: Accepting the default object selects all the fluid-structure interface surfaces. | ATV Output Request dialog box |
| 8. | In the Solution dialog box, on the Case Control page, create a Forcing Frequencies modeling object. | Compute the ATVs between the minimum and maximum frequencies of the excitation frequency range of the vibro-acoustic solution. | Forcing Frequencies dialog box (Nastran) |
| 9. | Create an automatically matched layer (AML) on the fluid exterior. | The AML radiates sound away from the acoustic mesh exterior. | Modeling exterior acoustic problems using automatically matched layersCreate an Automatically Matched Layer (AML) |
| 10. | Solve the solution. | Solve the model | |
| 11. | Post-process the results. | Select the acoustic results and choose Post-processing Scenario. | Scenario-based post-processing |
