Add a custom template file to a .pax file for CAE applications
For CAE applications, template files contain the settings and the FE modeling definitions that you need to define an analysis. You can use any existing part file as a template file, including FEM, assembly FEM, and Simulation files. The .pax file is an XML file that defines the FEM and Simulation file templates that the software loads automatically. You can customize .pax files by editing the XML content with a text editor to add entries that point to your own custom template files.
Create and save the template FEM, assembly FEM, or Simulation file. For CAE applications, template files contain the settings and the FE modeling definitions that you need to define an analysis.
Open the pax file for the New dialog box tab that you want to add the template file to. For CAE applications, the .pax files for the New dialog box templates are located in:%UGII_BASE_DIR%\simulation\templatesNote: Make sure that you have write access to the .pax file before you try to edit it.
Copy a complete
section in the .pax file and insert it where you would like it to appear in the template list. Edit the
attribute to point to the correct file. Include the path to the file if it is located in a different directory. Edit any other attribute, such as
name or Units as necessary. For example: FemNxNastranMetricAutoBody.fem English Simcenter Nastran Save the .pax file.
Exit and restart Pre/Post to see the new template in the New dialog box.
