Model and mesh validation > Evaluating element quality
Abaqus element quality checks
In the Abaqus solver environment, use the Element Quality command to evaluate the elements in your model based on the following criteria:
Jacobian ratio
Jacobian zero
Aspect ratio
Shape factor
Face corner angle
For more information, see Verifying your mesh and Verifying element quality in the Abaqus/CAE User’s Manual.
Shape factor
Use the Shape Factor option to check whether any triangular and tetrahedral 2D elements in you model have a normalized shape factor that is smaller than the value you specify. The Shape Factor criterion ranges from 0 to 1, with 1 indicating the optimal element shape and 0 indicating a degenerate element.
Face corner angle
Use the Face Corner Angle option to check for elements that contain faces where two edges meet at an angle that is either smaller or larger than the value you specify.
