Create an acoustic absorber
Lets you define an acoustic absorber layer on the free faces of fluid elements.
Note:
Alternatively, you can use porous materials to model 3D acoustic absorbers. For more information, see Porous materials.
In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Simulation Objects container of the active solution and select New Simulation Object→Acoustic Absorber. The Acoustic Absorber dialog box appears.
Select the acoustic absorber type.
Enter a name, or use the defaults.
In the Model Objects group, select how to specify the free faces of fluid elements on which to apply the acoustic absorber property. To specify the element faces for an acoustic absorber property, you select an object, an existing group, or create a new group. To select an object:Click .In the graphics window, select polygon faces, element faces, or meshes, on which to apply the acoustic absorber property.Note: When you select a polygon face, the software ensures that the absorber is defined on element faces associated with the polygon face.To select an existing group:Select the Group Reference check box.(Optional) Under Options, use Filter by Name or Filter by Label to reduce the number of groups in the Options list.(Optional) From the Filter Type list, select the type of FE or geometric entity type on which to apply the acoustic absorber property. From the Options group table, select the appropriate group.See Group selection options for more details. To create a new group:Select the Group Reference check box.Click to create a new group.See Create a group by manually selecting the contents for more details.
Expand the Excluded and Element Selection Filtering groups. From the Filter Type list, select the element type to exclude from the selected object and in the graphics window, select an object to be excluded.
If the acoustic absorber type is set to Damping and Stiffness Coefficients, specify equivalent structural damping and equivalent structural stiffness in the Coefficients group.
Select the Magnitude Type.
Depending on the acoustic absorber type, you can select Real/Imaginary, Magnitude/Phase, or Field. If you select Field:Select Table Constructor from the list to specify a field.Note: The Table Field dialog box appears.Define the field by entering the frequency and the real and imaginary values in the Data Points box.See Create a table field and Define a table field with complex dependent variables for more details.
Click OK to exit the Table Field dialog box.
A new acoustic absorber is added under the Simulation Objects container of the active solution and Simulation Object Container.
