Create a ply section and its section curves

  1. Make the FEM the work part and choose Laminate tab→Validation group→New Ply Section .

  2. (Optional) In the Name box, set a name for the ply section.

  3. In the Section Plane group, specify a section plane on which to display the section curves of the selected laminates.

  4. (Optional) In the Display Options group, move the Ply Offset Scale Factor slider to set the scale for the distance between the section curves.

  5. (Optional) From the Ply Color list, select the color option for the section curves.

  6. In the Laminate Selection group, do one of the following to select the laminates that the software displays their plies as section curves:To select all laminates, select the Select All check box.To select one or more laminates:Click Select Laminates to open the Laminate Selection dialog box.In the Laminate Selection dialog box, double-click a laminate in the List Laminates group or right-click the laminate and choose Select to add it to the Selected Laminates group.To remove a selected laminate from the Selected Laminates group, double-click the laminate or right-click it and choose Unselect.Click OK to close the Laminate Selection dialog box.The selected laminates are listed in the Laminate Selection group of the Ply Section dialog box.

  7. Click OK to close the Ply Section dialog box.The software lists the created ply section in the Ply Section folder in the Simulation Navigator.

  8. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the ply section node and choose Create Section Curves.The software displays the section curves in the graphics window.
