Define contact exclusions (Abaqus)

Define the surfaces that should not come into contact, and define their non-default properties.

  1. Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Simulation Object TypeContact Exclusion .

  2. From the type list, select the type of exclusion to create:Surface Pair Contact Exclusion—Ignore contact for the specified surface pairs. Contact pair exclusions are specified to avoid physically unreasonable contact interactions and improve computational performance by excluding parts of the model that are not likely to interact. Self-Contact Surface Exclusion—Exclude contact between the selected surface and itself.Surface to Default All-Inclusive Surface Contact Exclusion—Ignore contact between the all-inclusive, automatically generated surface and the selected surface.

  3. In the Excluded groups, select the surface or surface regions, or click Create Region to create new surface regions.

  4. Click OK.
