Shell stress resultants
In plate theory, one typically works with stress resultants which are related to the stress components previously defined.
Force stress resultants are shown in the figure below
They correspond to forces per unit length and are defined by the following equations
Moment stress resultants are shown below.
They correspond to moments per unit length and are defined by the following equations:
Finally, transverse shear resultants are defined by:
and they also correspond to forces per unit length.
