Fluid materials for acoustic analyses

Fluid materials let you define material properties for fluids, including liquids and gasses. You must specify any two of C (Speed of Sound), RHO (Mass Density), and K (Bulk Modulus). The third is then calculated from:

Analyses

Acoustic and vibro-acoustic analyses, such as those performed with Simcenter Nastran and Simcenter 3D Acoustics BEM, use fluid materials. For example:

  • In Simcenter Nastran Acoustic and Vibro-Acoustic analyses, you can use fluid materials to model a 3D fluid domain inside or outside an enclosure.

  • In Acoustics BEM Direct Acoustic, Indirect Acoustic, and Indirect Vibro-Acoustic analyses, you can use fluid materials to model a 2D fluid domain.
