Simulation file
The Simulation (.sim) file has the following characteristics:
It is an assembly.
It contains a FEM file as its only component.
It contains loads, constraints, and other boundary conditions that define your analysis.
It can override the physical, material, and display properties defined in the component FEM file.
It includes solver-specific data, including one or more solutions and reusable solver-specific modeling objects.

The component FEM acts as the master model for the Simulation. You have access to the mesh and polygon geometry in the FEM file when you define your Simulation. Geometry-based loads, constraints, and objects update when the FEM file is updated.
Because multiple Simulation files can include the same FEM as a component, you can reuse mesh data for different analyses.
