Define boundary conditions for external solvers

In this example, you will impose a mass flow rate on the inlet (arrow) of the flow domain (pink region) in the CFD model which is in the external CFD software and not in Pre/Post.

  1. Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→External Solver Boundary Condition .

  2. In the External Solver Boundary Condition dialog box, in the External BC Name box, enter the name of the inlet of the flow domain exactly how it is defined in the CFD model, for example, Inflow 1.

  3. From the External Solver list, select the External Solver modeling object that defines the external solver and the flow domain of the CFD model of interest, for example, Fluid enclosure 1.

  4. Select the Mass Flow check box.

  5. In the Mass Flow Value box, enter the constant or time-varying mass flow rate that you want to impose.

  6. Click OK.
