Gasket analysis
Analyzing gaskets with Simcenter Samcef
In Simcenter Samcef, you can define a Gasket - Strain material on solid elements and on cohesive elements.
You can do this both in 3D and 2D structural analyses.
You define the gasket material properties in the Gasket - Strain Material dialog box (Simcenter Samcef Structure).
For more details on these properties, see Gasket material properties overview (Simcenter Samcef).
Viewing Simcenter Samcef gasket status in Pre/Post post-processing
In the Post Processing Navigator, gasket status is an elemental, scalar result, in which each element is assigned an integer value between 1 and 5:
| Pre/Post post-processing | Status | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Open | The gasket pressure is less than the leakage pressure. |
| 2 | Closed | The gasket pressure is higher than the leakage pressure but plasticity is not initiated. |
| 3 | Sealed | There has been plastic gasket deformation and the current pressure is above the gasket leakage pressure. |
| 4 | Leaked | After plastic deformation, the gasket pressure has dropped below gasket leakage pressure. |
| 5 | Crushed | Gasket closure strain has exceeded the rupture value. |
For more information, see the Samcef Gasket material page.
