Video: Create graphs from post processing results

A scatter plot shows the distribution of results across selected nodes or elements, along a specified vector or coordinate system axis. It is a modified form of the On Path graph type.

A scatter plot of stresses through the thickness of a mesh. The X-axis is defined as the theta axis of a selected cylindrical coordinate system.

Defining the X-axis for a scatter plot

To define the X-axis for a scatter plot, you specify a vector. Values at nodes or elements are projected onto this vector and displayed as the Y-axis values.

  • Length along direction specifies the X-axis as the length in model units along a specified vector, from the vector’s origin (0).

  • Coordinate value of CSYS axis specifies the X-axis as the distance from the CSYS origin along a specified coordinate system axis.

Editing the graph style

The default graph template creates a graph with the Graph Style graph style set to Line. To create a scatter-plot style graph, double-click the data series and in the Curve Options dialog box, from the Graph Style list, choose No Line.
