Mixing Plane dialog box (Flow/ESC/Multiphysics)

Option Description
Type Specifies the type of Mixing Plane the software creates.Mixing Plane with Joint Mesh Interface models a mixing plane on the shared face of two different flow regions.Mixing Plane with Disjoint Mesh Interface models a mixing plane on any independent faces of detached flow regions.
Name
Name Sets the name for the simulation object. Description opens an editor in which you can type a description for the simulation object.
Destination Folder
Simulation Object Container Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container.
Folder Manager Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder.
Region, Upstream Region, or Downstream Region
Group Reference Applies the boundary condition to the selected group. For more information, see Group Reference options.
Select Object (Region) Appears when you set Type to Mixing Plane with Joint Mesh Interface.Lets you select the faces or elements to define the mixing plane region.Create an independent Mixing Plane simulation object for each non coplanar interface.Caution: Selecting faces that are not coplanar instructs the solver to average the flow at all selected interfaces.Excluded lets you remove individual entities from within your selected object.
Select Object (Upstream Region) Appears when Type is set to Mixing Plane with Disjoint Mesh Interface.Lets you select the faces or elements to define the upstream region of the mixing plane.Excluded lets you remove individual entities from within your selected object.Caution: Selecting faces that are not coplanar instructs the solver to average the flow at all selected interfaces.
Select Object (Downstream Region) Appears when Type is set to Mixing Plane with Disjoint Mesh Interface.Lets you select the faces or elements to define the downstream region of the mixing plane.Excluded lets you remove individual entities from within your selected object.Caution: Selecting faces that are not coplanar instructs the solver to average the flow at all selected interfaces.
Stacked Smart Selector Methods Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.
Flow Direction
Specify Vector Appears when Type is set to Mixing Plane with Joint Mesh Interface.Lets you specify the flow direction through the mixing plane. To inverse the direction of the flow, click Reverse Direction .
Parameters
Averaging Method Specifies how the flow quantities are averaged at the mixing plane regions before they are transfered. You set the number of bands used to average the quantities in the Number of Segments box.Along RadiusAlong VectorAlong RadiusAverages the flow velocity and pressure along radial arcs.Along VectorAverages the flow velocity and pressure along lines that are parallel to the specified vector direction. Use the Specify Vector options to specify the vector direction. Along Radius Along Vector
Along Radius Along Vector
Axis Appears when Averaging Method is set to Along Radius.Specifies the center of the radial arcs.Global Cyclic AnalysisAppears if you defined the cyclic symmetry cylindrical coordinate system in the FEM. Specifies the center of the radial arcs around the Z-axis of the cyclic symmetry cylindrical coordinate system. User-DefinedLets you specify the axis that defines the center of the radial arcs. Use the Specify Vector options to specify the direction of the axis, and use the Specify Point options to specify the location of the axis.
