Mesh associated data in Simcenter Samcef
In addition to properties such as thickness, mass, and area, you can define Mesh Associated Data properties that are specific to the Simcenter Samcef solver.
In Simcenter Samcef Structural analyses, we have:
| Property | Description | Simcenter Samcef command |
|---|---|---|
| Material Orientation | Defines the material orientation method. You can choose between a Tangent Curve, a Vector or an Orientation Angle method. | .AEL FRAME and/or .AEL THETA |
| User Element Attributes (AEL card) | Free user text to be output as an .AEL command. This command is output after all the .AEL cards for the model's properties.Note: The software does not check whether parameters defined in the free text string will overwrite .AEL parameters that are already defined in the model. | .AEL |
| Shell EXCE, NXCE and PEXCE offset options | Two ways are available to consider the shell offset: Perform the integration over the thickness by taking the node positions as references. This is triggered when the EXCE option for the shell offset is selected.Perform the integration by simulating rigid bodies between the nodes and their projection on the mid-shell surface. This is triggered when the NEXCE option for the shell offset is selected. For more details, see Shell offsets (Simcenter Samcef). | .AEL EXCE, .AEL NEXCE or .AEL PEXCE |
| Shell MIND card | Determines the flexural behavior and the geometrical stiffness of the Mindlin shells. For more details, see About the MIND Mesh Associated Data property (Simcenter Samcef). | .AEL MIND |
| Non-linearities (NLIS) | Determines whether Simcenter Samcef ignores or processes geometrical non-linearities. By default, geometrical non-linearities are taken into account, but you can use this property to ignore them. | .AEL NLIS -1 |
| Solid elements Incompressible Condition (BULK) | Determines the solid element's integration schemes for the deviatoric and volumetric parts of the constitutive law. You can choose the Linear, Bilinear, or Trilinear scheme. By default, no scheme is selected (None). For more information on the incompressible bulk condition, see the Bulk behavior page in the Simcenter Samcef solver documentation. | .AEL BULK |
| Samcef Mesh Attribute (.MAI ATT) | By default in the Simcenter Samcef input file, an .MAI attribute is defined for each mesh. You can override this default with this parameter. | .MAI ATT |
| Thickness Source | Lets you specify the source of the data the software uses to assign the element thickness values. Physical Property Table — Use the Thickness value defined in the associated physical property table to define the thickness of the mesh. Midsurface — Use the thickness of the geometry from which you created the midsurface.Field — Use a Table field to define a variable thickness. | |
| Constrained Dofs | For the MeanInterpolation [MEAN] element, lets you specify how the slave node and the master nodes are constrained. |
In Simcenter Samcef Thermal analyses, we have:
| Property | Description | Simcenter Samcef command |
|---|---|---|
| User Element Attributes (AEL card) | Free user text to be output as an .AEL command. This command is output after all the .AEL cards for the model's properties.Note: The software does not check whether parameters defined in the free text string will overwrite .AEL parameters that are already defined in the model. | .AEL |
| Samcef Mesh Attribute (.MAI ATT) | By default in the Simcenter Samcef input file, an .MAI attribute is automatically defined for each mesh. You can override this default with this parameter. | .MAI ATT |
| Thermal nodal capacity elements Volume, Mass, Surface Flux (FLU), Surface Convection (SCON) and Surface Radiation (SRAD) properties | Properties of the nodal capacity element. For more details on this element, see the Simcenter Samcef online documentation. | .MCC CAPA MASS.MCC VOLU SFLU SCON SRAD |
