Nodal Force Report dialog box
| Name | |
|---|---|
| Displays the solution associated with the nodal force report. | |
| Nodal Force Report Name | Sets the name for the nodal force report. |
| Forces | |
| Force Type | Specifies the forces to include in the nodal force calculation. If you select Grid Point, you can select to include more than one type of grid point force. |
| Grid Point Force Grid Point Reaction Force Grid Point Applied Force Grid Point Reaction Force MPC | Appears when Force Type is set to Grid Point.Lets you select the grid point force. You can select multiple forces. The software shows the resultant of the selected forces on the selected nodes. |
| Solution Step | |
| Step | Specifies the solution step that you want to use as input to the nodal report. Select All to include all subcases or steps. Select Specify Index to select a subcase or step by its index ID. |
| Specify Index | Appears when Step is set to Specify Index.Sets the solution step to use as input to the nodal report. Index 0 is the first step, index 1 is second step, and so on. |
| Nodal Force Report Definition | |
| Appears when Force Type is set to Grid Point and only the Grid Point Force check box is selected. Lets you select the elements to be included. You can select different entities in the model, such as curves and faces, and the software finds the elements associated with the entities. | |
| All Elements | Includes all elements in the model in the nodal force calculation. |
| Select Groups | Lets you select a group to define the elements. The software uses the elements associated with the entities in the group as the nodal force report definition. For more information, see Group Reference options. |
| Select Object | Lets you select entities in the model. The software uses the elements associated with the entities as the nodal force report definition. |
| Report Nodes | |
| Lets you select the nodes on which the nodal forces are calculated. Note: Specifying report nodes is optional when a grid point force is the only force in the report. If you do not specify the nodes for a grid point force, the software includes all the nodes of all the elements you selected for the nodal force report definition. | |
| All Nodes | Includes all nodes in the model in the nodal force calculation. |
| Select Groups | Lets you select a group to define the nodes in the nodal force calculation. For more information, see Group Reference options. |
| Select Object | Lets you select entities in the model. The software uses the nodes associated with the selected entities as the report nodes. |
| Direction | |
| CSYS | Specifies the coordinate system in which the software should report the nodal force calculations. By default, the results are shown with respect to the absolute rectangular (global) coordinate system. |
| Specify CSYS | Available when CSYS is set to Cartesian, Cylindrical, or Spherical.Lets you select an existing coordinate system to use as the frame of reference for the results. |
| Output Options | |
| Add all Forces and Moments | Calculates a single net force about a reference point, if specified. The forces are calculated using vector addition of all forces on the specified report nodes. The resultant moment are the sum of r x Fnode across nodes and the respective moments acting on the node (for example, grid point moment, grid point applied moment), where:r is the distance between the reference point and the node. Fnode is the force acting on the respective node.If you do not select to add all forces and moments, the post view displays an arrow contour of force and moment results. |
| Calculate Moments about a Point | Calculates the moments about a reference point. |
| Reference Point | Appears when the Add all Forces and Moments or Calculate Moments About a Point check box is selected.Specifies the point of reference about which the forces and moments are summed or the moments are calculated. For more information, see the Point dialog box.Note: When moments are summed with respect to a reference point:If you create a field from the results, the subcase or step ID, time, or frequency are the independent variable. You cannot create a solution and subcases from the nodal force report because no target set is defined. |
| Calculate Moment on Deformed Coordinates | Appears when the Add all Forces and Moments or Calculate Moments About a Point check box is selected.Uses the deformed coordinates to compute nodal moment arms relative to the reference point. |
| Create Output | |
| Specifies the type of output to create.Print InformationGenerates a list of the summed forces and moments for the selected elements and nodes and writes it to the Information window. You can print the results from the Information window. Post ViewCreates a post view with a wireframe display and arrows on the nodes of the report representing the forces and moments. The values of the arrows equal the values of the respective forces and moments. Create FieldDisplays the Table Field dialog box to let you create a field from the results. The field consists of nodes or the coordinates as the independent variable and the forces or moments as the dependent variable. For more information, see Create Field dialog box.Note: When forces and moments are summed with respect to a reference point, the independent variable of a field you create from the free body results has subcase or step ID, time, or frequency as the independent variable.Create SolutionDisplays the Create Solution from Nodal Force Report dialog box so you can create a new solution within the active Simulation file, with the forces and the moments of the nodal force report as loads. For more information, see Create Solution from Nodal Force Report dialog box.Create Graph Across IterationsAvailable when you create a nodal force report from results with multiple iterations and the Add all Forces and Moments check box is selected.Displays the Create Graph Across Iterations dialog box so you can create graphs of the forces and moments in the nodal force report. For more information, see the Graph Across Iterations dialog box.Export to Field FileDisplays the Export Field File from Nodal Force Report dialog box to save the field to a field (.fld) file. For more information, see Create Field dialog box.No OutputCreates the nodal force report but does not generate output. You can generate the output anytime after. |
