Create and edit post-processing scenarios

Note:

You cannot save a post-processing scenario directly. You must save it in a Layout State and then restore the saved Layout State to view the post-processing scenario. For information about layout states, see Using layouts to save and restore views.

Create a post-processing scenario

  1. Make sure the Simulation file is the displayed and work part.

  2. If necessary, load a data source for plotting a scenario. For more information, see Create data sources from data in the Simulation Navigator and Create data sources from external files.

  3. In the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator, under the Data Sources node, select a data source. The Scenarios subpanel appears with the post-processing scenarios that support the selected data source.

  4. In the Scenarios subpanel, select the type of scenario. Tip: You can also double-click the scenario to display it in the graphics window.

  5. At the bottom of the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator, click Plot .Note: If you have a viewport layout with more than one viewport, select the viewport where you want to display the scenario. You can change the layout at any time by clicking a layout in the Results tab→Layout group.

Edit a post-processing scenario

  1. If necessary, restore the layout state that contains the post-processing scenario.

  2. In the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator, under the appropriate viewport node, select a post-processing scenario.

  3. In the Definition, Parameters, and Selection nodes, edit definitions, parameters, and selection values. You can edit the value in the editor subpanel, or for some options, you can edit the value directly in the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator. The Edit Mode column in the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator indicates which definitions, parameters, and selections you can edit. For more information about the data definitions, parameters, and selection values for the different post-processing scenarios, see Creating and editing post-processing scenarios and the descriptions of the different scenarios.Options that you change appear in bold to indicate that you did not apply them and they do not yet appear in the graphics window. You can also double-click on a value to update it immediately. Tip: To edit more than one value at a time, hold the Ctrl key and select the definitions, parameters, and selections you want to edit to display their editors. For more information, see Using the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator.

  4. Click Apply Changes at the bottom of the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator. The changes appear in the graphics window.
