Displaying result sources for margin of safety calculations

In the graphics window, you can highlight the nodes or elements from which results are extracted for a margin of safety calculation. If the load extraction for the calculation is from parent geometry such as a polygon edge or face, the nodes or elements that are associated with the geometry are highlighted. If an annotation is associated with the calculation and the annotation is displayed in the graphics window, it is highlighted as well.

Example of a highlighted calculation annotation and the element that provides the results for the calculation

This capability is useful for quickly finding the nodes or elements that provide the results that are used in a margin of safety calculation.

To highlight the nodes, elements, and annotation that are associated with a calculation created using the Load Extraction dialog box, you can do the following:

  • In the Simulation Navigator, select the calculation. To highlight the nodes, elements, and annotations for multiple calculations simultaneously, use the Ctrl or Shift keys to select the calculations.

  • In the Calculation Manager dialog box, select a calculation. To highlight the nodes, elements, and annotations for multiple calculations simultaneously, use the Ctrl or Shift keys when selecting the calculations.

  • In the graphics window, hover over the annotation for the calculation.

To highlight the nodes that are associated with a calculation created using the Nodal Force Report Extraction dialog box, in the Simulation Navigator, select the nodal force report that provides the results for the calculation. To highlight the nodes for multiple nodal force reports simultaneously, use the Ctrl or Shift keys to select the nodal force reports.

To highlight the annotation that is associated with a calculation created using the Nodal Force Report Extraction dialog box, in the Simulation Navigator, select the calculation.

To highlight the annotations for multiple calculations simultaneously, use the Ctrl or Shift keys to select the calculations.
