Heat Generation dialog box (ANSYS)

Type
Type Controls how you define the rate of heat generation.Nodal/Nodal – Spatial: Lets you define the rate of heat generation for selected nodes. Select Nodal – Spatial to define the rate of heat generation by mapping a field directly to a global or local coordinate system.Elemental/Elemental – Spatial: Lets you define the rate of heat generation for selected 1D (FLUID116), 2D, and 3D elements. Select Elemental – Spatial to define the rate of heat generation by mapping a field directly to a global or local coordinate system.Element Face/Element Face – Spatial: Lets you define the rate of heat generation for the faces of selected 2D and 3D elements. Select Elemental Face – Spatial to define the rate of heat generation by mapping a field directly to a global or local coordinate system.Note: Spatial boundary conditions are best when you want to use externally generated results or other data to define the load. For more information, see BF and BFE in the ANSYS Commands Reference.
Destination Folder
Load Container Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container.
Folder Manager Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder.
Model Objects
Group Reference Lets you define the rate of heat generation for the members of a group. For more information, see Group Reference options.
Select Object Lets you select the geometry or FE entities on which the load will be applied. Use the Excluded options to remove individual entities, such as elements or nodes, from your selection.
Stacked Smart Selector Methods Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.
Magnitude
Heat Generation Rate Specifies the rate of heat generation. For more information, see Additional magnitude options.
Specify Field Appears when Heat Generation Rate is set to Field.Lets you select or create a field.
Scale Factor Defines a scale factor for the load magnitude.
Distribution
Appears when Type is set to any non-spatial heat generation load.
Method Defines how the rate of heat generation is distributed over the selected objects.Constant: Applies the load as a constant value.Spatial: Lets you use a field to map the rate of heat generation to the elements or nodes. If you select Spatial, use the Spatial Field options in the Distribution Field group to specify or define the field to use.
Distribution Field
Specify Field If you select Spatial from the Method list, lets you select or create a field to define the distribution of the load.
SURF151 or SURF152
Appears when Type is set to Element Face
Keyopts Lets you specify the appropriate SURF151 ET or SURF152 ET modeling object.
Real Constants Lets you specify the appropriate SURF151 Real Constants or SURF152 Real Constants modeling object.
FLUID116
Connect to FLUID116 Elements Select this option to transfer the heat flux between the SURF151 or SURF152 elements and FLUID116 (fluid network elements).
Group of Nodes from FLUID116 Lets you select or create a group that contains the nodes on the FLUID116 elements that you want to connect to the SURF151 or SURF152 elements.
Card Name Displays the name of the corresponding ANSYS command.
