Flow Blockage dialog box — Porous Blockage - Orthotropic options
| Destination Folder | |
|---|---|
| Simulation Object Container | Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container. |
| Folder Manager | Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder. |
| Porous Blockage Region | |
| Select Object | Lets you select a polygon body to use as the flow obstruction. The surface(s) of the polygon body must mate with the 3D flow mesh.Excluded lets you remove individual entities from within your selected object. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| Options | |
| Flow is Laminar in Blockage | Controls which equations the software is solving in the porous flow blockage.Select Flow is Laminar in Blockage to let the software solve the laminar equations in the porous flow blockage.Clear Flow is Laminar in Blockage to let the software solve the same equations in the porous flow blockage as for the rest of the fluid domain depending on the Turbulence Model specified on the Solution Details page of the Solution dialog box. |
| Orientation | |
| Orientation CSYS | Defines the orientation of the orthotropic porous flow blockage.Lets you specify or define the coordinate system to use.Click CSYS Dialog to use the CSYS dialog box to create the coordinate system. See CSYS dialog box for more information. |
| Head Loss | |
| Inertial Resistance (drop proportional to dynamic pressure) | Determines if the pressure drop through the porous blockage is calculated using inertial resistance.Select Inertial Resistance to let the software calculate the pressure drop through the porous blockage using inertial resistance. Head Loss per Length must be specified. See Understanding Porous Flow Blockage resistance methods for more information.Clear Inertial Resistance if you only want to use Darcy resistance and select Permeability check box.Note: If you select Head Loss and Permeability from the Specify Method list you should select either Inertial Resistance check box or Permeability check box or both of them, but at least one of them needs to be check. |
| Head Loss per Length | Head Loss per Length is used to determine the pressure drop.Specify values for the X, Y, and Z directions. For complete flow blockage (infinite head loss) in one or two directions, you must use a real value to represent infinity. Use a value equal to 1000 times the next highest value you have entered for another direction. |
| Permeability | |
| Permeability (drop proportional to velocity) | Determines if the pressure drop through the porous blockage is calculated using Darcy resistance.Select Permeability to let the software calculate the pressure drop through the porous blockage using Darcy's law. Permeability Value must be specified. See Understanding Porous Flow Blockage resistance methods for more information.Clear Permeability if you only want to use inertial resistance and select Inertial Resistance check box.Note: If you select Head Loss and Permeability from the Specify Method list you should select either Inertial Resistance check box or Permeability check box or both of them, but at least one of them needs to be check. |
| Permeability Value | Lets you specify values for the X, Y, and Z directions. |
