Laminate Ply Material dialog box — Unidirectional type

Option Description
Name Specifies a name for the laminate ply material.
Label Specifies a label for the laminate ply material.
Basic Information
Matrix Material Sets the material for the matrix.
Matrix Volume Fraction Specifies a value for the volume fraction of the matrix in the ply material. The sum of the values of the Matrix Volume Fraction and the Fiber Volume Fraction must be less than or equal to one.
Fiber Material Sets the material for the fibers.
Fiber Volume Fraction Specifies a value for the volume fraction of the fibers in the ply material. The sum of the values of the Matrix Volume Fraction and the Fiber Volume Fraction must be less than or equal to one.
Finish Thickness Specifies the thickness of the unidirectional ply material. The Finished Thickness value is used as the thickness for the ply that references this ply material in the Ply Details group of the Laminate Modeler or Laminate Layup dialog boxes.
Tsai-Wu
Tsai Wu Interaction Specifies the value for the Tsai Wu interaction coefficient used in the Tsai Wu failure theory. See Tsai-Wu failure analysis (2D) for more information.
Puck
The parameters in the Puck group are only used in the Puck failure theory. See Puck failure analysis (2D) for more information.
Mean Stress Magnification Factor Specifies the empirical factor for the fibers in the direction perpendicular to the fibers. The magnification factor is due to the difference between the transverse modulus of the fiber and the modulus of the matrix.
Shear Strain Coefficient Specifies the constant term of the empirical shear correction term that is a function of shear strain.
Inclination Parameter + Sets the slope of the fracture envelope at zero normal transverse stress, on the tension side.
Inclination Parameter – Sets the slope of the fracture envelope at zero normal transverse stress, on the compression side.
