Create a Mapped Hole mesh control

  1. Choose Home tab→Mesh group→Mesh Control .

  2. From the Density Types list, select Mapped Hole.

  3. In the Selection group, click Select Targets and select the geometry.Note: The Mapped Hole type only controls the distribution of elements around holes that are contained within a single surface. If a hole spans multiple surfaces, the Mapped Hole option will not produce a structured mesh around those holes.

  4. (Optional) Select Filter to entire body or group of faces as the target geometry and have the software search within that geometry for holes that meet the criteria you specify, such as a minimum or maximum radius.

  5. In the Mapped Holes group, use the Layer Depth box to specify how much you want the software to offset the first row of elements from the hole.

  6. In the Number of Layers box, specify how many structured rows of elements you want the software to create on either side of the welded edge.

  7. Use the Spacing on Edge options to control the size or number of elements that the software creates in each row.

  8. Select Automatic to have the software automatically preview the nodal distribution along the selected edge each time you modify the selected options on the dialog box , or click Preview to manually preview the nodal distribution.

  9. Click OK or Apply to create the mesh control.
