Idealize Geometry dialog box
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Type | Lets you choose the type of geometry to be idealized: Body —The body to be simplified. If at least one of the selected criteria is satisfied, a set of faces is removed from the body.Region —A collection of faces that are related to a seed face and limited by boundary faces. After you identify the seed face and boundary faces, the software automatically selects faces outwards in all directions from the seed face, collecting faces until it encounters the boundary faces. Note: For regions, you can also use Defeature Geometry, which offers a more streamlined process for identifying seed and boundary faces for removing entire regions. |
| Selection Steps — Body | Body (Required) —Lets you select the body to simplify. Next, you can choose the criteria that identify features to remove.Removed Faces (Optional) —Lets you select specific faces to remove. |
| Selection Steps — Region | Seed Face (Required) —Lets you choose the first face in the region to simplify. The Tangential Edge Angle option lets you add faces to the region.Boundary Faces (Optional) —After you select a seed face, lets you define an outer boundary face for the region. Removed Faces (Optional) —Lets you select specific faces to remove. |
| Chain Selected Blends | If selected, lets you automatically create a chain of connected blend faces along the blending direction. Once you select a blend face, the software creates a chain of highlighted adjacent blend faces having the same radius as the selected blend face. The blend chain is terminated by either having no connecting blend faces with the same radius (end of the blend path) or when there is more than one blend connecting with the same radius (multiple blend paths). |
| Tangential Edge Angle | If selected, automatically selects faces adjacent to the seed face based on the relative angle of normal vectors along adjacent edges of neighboring faces. The default value is 45 degrees. |
| Preview Region | Outlines the region to be simplified with dashed lines. |
| Automatic Feature Removal | Holes—Removes holes less than the specified diameter. Blends—Removes fillets or chamfer blends less than the specified radius. |
| Review Failing Wounds | Appears when you edit an existing idealized feature from the Part Navigator.Highlights the edges in regions where the software was unable to remove all faces. |
