Node to geometry matching in large dimension models

An accurate body-fitted fluid mesh must have, among other parameters, appropriate node to geometry proximity (curves and faces), mesh quality, and mesh density.

In large models that contain very small edges or faces, node to geometry proximity is not achieved with default meshing parameters. When a part is meshed, the mesh is created proportional to the size of the bounding box of the part. Hence, when small geometry is present in very large models, an accurate representation cannot be achieved on the small geometry.

To mesh small geometries in considerably bigger models, you must set the environment variable UGII_CAE_603_MODRES to 1.

Example:

A meshed cylindrical plate with a center hole

UGII_CAE_603_MODRES=0 UGII_CAE_603_MODRES=1
