Set up a cutting plane display
Tip:
You can also access the cutting plane options using the Edit Post View command. The Edit Post View command is available when you set the color display to contour plot.
To automatically apply the cutting plane definition changes as you make them, select the Show Preview check box.
Choose Results tab→Display group→Cutting Plane Options .
From the Create Csys group, specify a coordinate system and an axis.
Do one of the following depending on how you define the cutting plane:To locate the cutting plane at a reference node or element:Select the Clip by Reference Node or the Clip by Reference Element check box depending on the type of results.From the Method list, choose how you want to select the node or element:To select a node or element, select Pick from Model and select a node or element in the graphics window.To specify a node or element ID, select By Node IDs or By Element IDs. Type the node or element ID in the text box and click Apply .Tip: To display the IDs of the selected node or element, select the Mark IDs check box.To specify the distance of the cutting plane along the selected axis, type the distance value in the text box or drag the slider bar.
From the Clip Side list, specify the clip side:To create a cutaway display, select Positive or Negative.To create a cross section display, select Both.
To define how you want the whole model to appear in context, select the Show Ghost or Show Edges check box. You can select either, both, or none of these options.Show Edges****Show Ghost
Click OK.
