Propagate dialog box
| Description | |
|---|---|
| Method | Displays the method for the calculation that you are propagating. |
| Show method documentation | Opens a help topic that contains technical information on the selected method. |
| Show method diagram | Available when an illustrated description of the selected method exists.Opens a help topic that contains an illustrated description of the selected method. |
| Name | Sets the name for the calculations that you are creating by propagation. |
| Show Description | Opens a box where you can enter a description for the calculations that you are creating. This description appears in the Simulation Navigator. To hide the description box, click Hide description . |
| Source and Annotation | |
| Select Object | Selects the geometric or FE entities for which the software creates a propagated calculation. The software creates a propagated calculation for each geometric or FE entity that you select. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| Annotation | |
| Generate annotations | Creates an annotation for each of the propagated calculations. |
| Direction | |
| Reverse Direction | Reverses the direction of the leader line. |
| Direction list | Specifies the direction of the leader line for the annotation.Face/Plane Normal Orients the leader line normal to the selected entity.XC Orients the leader line along the X-axis of the absolute coordinate system.YC Orients the leader line along the Y-axis of the absolute coordinate system.ZC Orients the leader line along the Z-axis of the absolute coordinate system. |
| Length | |
| Scale | Sets the length of the leader line stub. |
| Text Size | |
| Scale | Sets the height of the text in the annotation. |
| Inputs | |
| The options that appear on this tab depend on which method is selected for the source calculation. When these options appear, they have the same settings as the source calculation. You can edit these settings.Use the boxes that appear on the Description tab to describe the values that you enter on the Inputs tab. To make a box editable, select the corresponding check box . | |
| Load Case Set | Specifies the load case set for the propagated calculations. |
| Create a Load Case Set | Opens the Load Case Set Editor dialog box. |
| Input box options | You can define the parameter with a constant value, expression, or field. You can:Type a constant value directly in the box.Type an expression directly in the box. As you begin to type the expression, tooltips provide hints about valid parameter names. If you type an invalid or incomplete expression, the icon appears next to the box.Click and select from these options:Measure opens a dialog box from which you can measure a physical dimension.Property Extractor opens the Property Extractor dialog box, where you can extract a length or thickness.Laminate Property opens the Laminate Parameter Property dialog box, where you can select a laminate property.Beam Section Property opens the Beam Section Property dialog box, where you can select a section property.Material Property opens the Material Property dialog box, where you can select a material property.Expression opens the Expressions dialog box, where you can select an existing expression or create a new one.For more information about expressions, see Expressions.Function opens the Insert Function dialog box, where you can use the catalog of functions to define an expression.Extended Text opens the Extended Text Entry dialog box, where you can edit expressions.Select Existing Field opens the Fields dialog box, where you can select a field.New Field to open dialog boxes from which you can create formula and table fields. |
| Edit Laminate Extraction | Appears when Composite Plate Buckling Flat Compressive, Composite Plate Buckling Flat Longitudinal Shear Combined, Composite Plate Buckling Flat Shear, or a custom method that has laminate inputs is selected as the method.Opens the Laminate Extraction dialog box where you specify the extraction direction and laminate name. |
| Edit Load Extraction | Opens the Load Extraction dialog box where you select the type of result to retrieve, how to filter and aggregate the results, and so on that the software uses to obtain the working stress, force, or displacement. |
| Edit Manual Input | Opens the Manual Input dialog box where you can directly enter a value for the software to use as the working stress, force, or displacement. |
| Edit Nodal Force Report | Opens the Nodal Force Report Extraction dialog box where you select the nodal force report from which to retrieve results, the type of result to retrieve, how to filter the results, and so on that the software uses to obtain the working load. |
