Export a design variable as a modeling object

For the Nastran DESOPT 200 solution, continuous ply angle and ply thickness design variables can be exported as Design Variable — Composite Property modeling objects.

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click a 2D mesh collector node and choose Edit.

  2. In the Mesh Collector dialog box, in the Shell Property row, click Edit .The Laminate Modeler dialog box opens.

  3. In the Ply Layup tab, under Design Variable Manager, from the design variable list, select the continuous ply angle or ply thickness design variable that you want to export.

  4. Click Export Selected Design Variable as Modeling Object .For this command to be available, the selected design variable must be assigned to at least one ply.

  5. Click OK to close the Laminate Modeler dialog box.The Design Variable — Composite Property modeling object is created. If you click Cancel instead of OK, the modeling object is not created.
