Solid Ply element (Simcenter Samcef)

You can define Solid Ply elements to model metallic or composite thick shells.

The element allows you to model transverse shear deformable thick shells. The constitutive law is 3D coupling which indicates between in-plane behavior and transverse behavior. This is not the same as Solid Shell elements, where plane stress behavior is assumed.

You can define linear 3D quadratic 8-noded bricks (T199 element) or 6-noded wedges (T198 element).

As with other solids, you can define a Solid Property or a Solid Laminate physical property.

Note:

In the Solid Laminate property, you can define only a single ply.

For more information, see the solid ply element page in the Simcenter Samcef documentation.
