Create a note
Note:
Make sure that the appropriate file is the work part before you create a note. For example, if you create a note when the FEM file is the work part, you can view that note when the Simulation file is the work part, but you can move, edit, or delete the note only when the FEM file is the work part.
You can set default values for certain lettering and display attributes, such as the font, text color, and text justification, as well as whether new notes are automatically oriented parallel to the screen and locked in their current size and position. To do this, choose Home tab→Utilities group→More list→CAE Note Preferences before you create the note.
If the Display Parallel to Screen check box is selected in the CAE Note Preferences dialog box, you cannot specify the orientation of the note or add more than one leader. To disable that feature, follow these steps when you create the note:In the Settings group, click Settings .Click Display.Clear the Display Parallel to Screen check box.Click Close.
Choose Home tab→Utilities group→Note .Alternatively, to create a note and simultaneously put it in a folder:Choose Home tab→Utilities group→Note Manager .To create the note in a new folder, click Create New and type a unique name for the folder in the Enter Folder Name box.To create the note in an existing folder, click Add to Existing and select the folder from the Folder Name list.Click Add New Note .The Note dialog box appears.
In the Text Input box, type the content for the note.Tip: If you do not see the note when you move the cursor in the graphics window, select the text in the Text Input box and then set the size in the Formatting subgroup to a larger value. If the note is still not visible, in the Settings group, click Settings . In the Lettering page, type a larger value in the Height box, and then press Tab. For example, if the model is 40,000 mm wide and you want to see the note when the model fits in the window, you might set the height to 500.If you select the Lock Size and Position check box in the Display page, the note always remains the same size and in the same location even when you zoom in and out. The Lock Size and Position check box appears when the Display Parallel to Screen check box is selected. You can optionally apply attributes to the text, insert symbols, and import content from a text file. For more information, see Note dialog box.
(Optional) If the note's size and position are not locked, and you want to include a leader line between the note and the model, in the Leader group, click Select Terminating Object . Then click a point, mesh point, node, element, mesh, load, or constraint in the graphics window. You can also select the mesh, load, or constraint in the Simulation Navigator. To add more leaders from the same note to additional objects in the model, click New in the leader list table, click Select Terminating Object , and then select another object. You can add multiple leaders only if the note is not parallel to the screen. You can also add jogs or change the leader type, arrowhead, side of the note from which the leader originates, and length of the portion of the leader between the note text and the location where the line bends (the stub). For more information, see Note dialog box.If you created multiple leaders and want to add jogs, expand the List subgroup and make sure that the appropriate leader is selected in the list table before you click Specify Jog Position. In addition, if the Apply Style Settings to All check box is selected in the List subgroup, any changes that you make to one leader are applied to all leaders for this note.
(Optional) To associate the note with one or more nodes, elements, or polygon edges, faces, or bodies, in the Associated Objects group, click Select Object . Then click each object in the graphics window.Tip: If you have trouble selecting an object, in the Top Border bar, set Selection Scope to Entire Assembly. When you subsequently select the note in the graphics window, each associated object becomes highlighted.
Click Specify Location and then click the location in the graphics window where you want the note to appear. You can also control the position of the note using the options in the Alignment and Orientation subgroups. For more information, see Note dialog box. Be sure to set these options before you click in the graphics window.
Click Close. The note appears in the specified location in the graphics window. If you created the note from the Note Manager dialog box, click Close on that dialog box as well.
