Simcenter 3D Specialist Durability

Simcenter 3D Specialist Durability lets you predict the fatigue life of standalone and assembly components using an event-based workflow that features a parameter-driven solution process, a robust open solver, and a dedicated post-processing scenario.

Load events

Using specialist durability, you can define superposition load events by combining multiple measured or simulated load histories, in typical industry data formats, and multiple finite element results. By defining flexible body load events, you can seamlessly interact with motion analysis. You can create random or harmonic load events when the load signal is a random or deterministic excitation in frequency domain. You can apply temperature loads to the model, and predict its fatigue life based on temperature dependent material data. You can also combine block load, transient, and other load events in a complex duty cycle load event.

Specialist durability solution process

When you create a specialist durability solution process with various local definitions, you can investigate multiple components and their connections using different analysis templates such as stress and strain life and using different materials in one solver run. To efficiently define your solution process, specialist durability helps you manage local, library, standard, and user-defined durability simulation objects. You can reuse the durability simulation objects at the individual and site levels to promote enterprise efficiency. Using specialist durability, you can:

  • Assess durability using classical stress and strain life analysis templates.

  • Evaluate seam weld life using both nominal and notch stress methods.

  • Assess spot weld fatigue using force-based and stress-based methods.

  • Compute cohesive interlaminar damage.

  • Predict woven and short fiber composite life.

You can customize the solution parameters for each specialist durability solution process using solver profiles.

Post-processing

To better understand the results of your durability analysis, you can generate summary reports that pinpoint the critical areas by local definitions and load events. You can also visualize the results as 3D contour plots launched by specialist durability plots scenario that features intelligent failure-driven filtering.

You can also create a specialist durability function definition that generates 2D results for specific locations of your model. You can visualize the specialist durability function definition results as XY plots of time histories and contribution bar charts using the specialist durability function definition scenario.

Specialist Durability supports workflows that involve assemblies subjected to multiple load events from various external measurements and simulation files. In comparison, Advanced Durability offers a streamlined workflow to assess component life subjected to relatively few events defined in the Simulation file, and to make associated design changes.
