Define a spatial heat flux load

The spatial type of a heat flux load lets you map the field directly to a global or local coordinate system.

Note:

Available for Nastran and ANSYS only.

  1. Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Heat Flux .

  2. In the Heat Flux dialog box, select Uniform element – spatial, Variable element – spatial, or Grid – spatial from the Type list.Note: In ANSYS, choose the Elemental – spatial or Nodal – spatial type.

  3. In the Model Objects group, click Select Object and select the geometry or FE entity to which the heat flux load will be applied.

  4. (Optional) In the Control Point group, click Select Object and select the geometry or FE entity to define the control point for the load.

  5. In the Magnitude group, select a method from the Specify Field list to apply a heat flux load that varies spatially. You can use an existing field or create a new field. For more information, see Using fields and expressions to define boundary conditions.

  6. (Optional) Enter a Scale Factor for the field.

  7. Click OK.The load is applied to the model.
