Model and Load Pre-processing > Create a Fan Noise load and solution
2. Map the CFD fan mesh to transient fan blade elements
In this step you will map the CFD fan blade mesh to Simcenter 3D transient elements (intermediary entities). Transient elements are not part of the acoustic mesh. They are only created to map fan blade pressures to an acoustic source.
In the Simulation Navigator, hide the 2D Collectors and 3D Collectors to only show Polygon Geometry.
Right-click Model and Load Pre-Processing and choose Add Operation→Mesh Mapping. In the Mesh Mapping dialog box, select Transfer Data and click OK.
In the Simulation Navigator double-click the Mesh Mapping Data node. The fan blade transient mesh will become visible in the graphic window.
In the Mesh Mapping Data dialog box, select the Mapping Method. For more information, see Mesh Mapping Data dialog box.
Enter the Number of Influencing Nodes (typically 4 is an acceptable number) and enter the Maximum Distance. These values control the maximum search distance between regions of intermediary (transient) mesh and a model mesh. For more information, see Mesh Mapping Data dialog box.
Select the fan blade mesh as the Transfer From entities. If you are choosing the entire fan and hub, draw a selection box around the entire fan.If you are choosing only the fan blades, you can use Feature Angle Element Faces on the Ribbon Bar to refine the blade surfaces selected. Use the Smart Selector to change the Feature Angle Tolerance to refine the selection. For more information, see Select elements by feature angle.
In the Transfer To tab, select Intermediary Entities , and then select the fan blade mesh as the Transfer To entities. If you are choosing only the fan blades, you can use Feature Angle Element Faces on the Ribbon Bar to refine the blade surfaces selected. Use the Smart Selector to change the Feature Angle Tolerance to refine the selection, and then click the target selector. For more information, see Select elements by feature angle.
Select any point on a fan blade, and then continue to select all the fan blades.
Click OK.
