Prism Primitive dialog box (SST)

Common options

Option Description
Element Type Lists the supported 2D element types.
Destination Collector
Mesh Collector Lets you select an existing collector. Click New Collector to use the Mesh Collector dialog box to create additional mesh collectors. See Mesh collectors for more information.
Definition
By Controls the definition method.Parameters: Lets you define the prism by assigning values to parameters in relation to a coordinate system you specify.Points: Lets you define the prism by locating points in space in terms of 3D coordinates.
Mesh Density
Start angle side (from origin to start) Defines the number of elements along the edge located by the Start Angle. The software begins meshing from the origin. It finishes meshing the prism's face defined by the origin and the Start Angle and continues counterclockwise measured from the top.
Along Y (from start to end) Defines the number of elements along the edge defined by the Y extent. The element sequence continues from Start Angle to End Angle.
End angle side (from end to origin) Defines the number of elements along the edge located by the End Angle. The element sequence continues from the Y extent to the origin.
Along Height Defines the number of elements along the vertical height of the three faces of the prism. The number of elements defines the number of layers. The element sequence continues the next layer up on the same face.Note: The prism is not closed as the triangular surfaces are not meshed.
Top side faces inward Select the check box to reverse the direction of the surface normals of the 2D elements so that they point inward.

Prism primitive defined by parameters

Option Description
Definition
Coordinate System Lets you create or select a coordinate system. The software uses the origin of the coordinate system as the origin of the primitive.See CSYS dialog box for more information.
Base Height Defines the base height as a distance from the origin along the Z-axis.
Top Height Defines the top height as a distance from the origin along the Z-axis. The difference of Base Height and Top Height is used to set the height of the bounding faces for the prism.
Y extent Defines the location of the primitive face opposite the vertex as an offset distance from the X-Z plane.Note: This face is always parallel to the X-Z plane.
Start Angle Defines the angle between the face nearest the X-Z plane and the X-Z plane. This locates the first prism face.
End Angle Defines the angle between the face nearest the Y-Z plane and the X-Z plane. This locates the last prism face.

Prism primitive defined by points

Option Description
Definition
Origin Lets you select or create a point to define as the origin for the prism.Click Point Constructor to use the Point dialog box to create a new point. See Point dialog box for more information.
Height Lets you select or create a point to define the height of all the faces as distance from the Origin for the prism.
Base – start position Lets you select or create a point that defines the starting point for the prism’s base.
Base – end position Lets you select or create a point that defines the ending point for the prism’s base.TheBase – end position defines the second and third faces in relation to the Base – start position and the Origin respectively.
