Damage Interface material (Simcenter Samcef)

The Simcenter Samcef Damage Interface material model simulates the progressive damage (the delamination) of polymer matrix laminated composites made of UD plies.

This material model is used in Cohesive interface elements inserted between plies. This cohesive elements approach can trigger de-cohesions between the plies and can simulate an inter-laminar crack propagation. The model defines a relationship between the stresses and the displacements variation over the cohesive element's thickness. .

In the model, you can choose between a Polynomial, Bi-triangular, or Exponential law.

For an example on how to define a damage interface material, see Define a damage interface material in Simcenter Samcef or Multiphysics.

For more information, see the damage interface material page in the Simcenter Samcef solver documentation.
