Control solver parameters during the solve
While your analysis is solving, you can control the solution parameters for the thermal and flow solvers in the Solution Control Monitor. The solvers use the updated parameters at the next iteration. Changing the parameters can shorten the duration of a solution by applying less stringent convergence criteria.
Open the Solution Control Monitor. For more information, see Display real-time solution results.
On the Post View tab, in the Results group, from the Results Type list, select the result.
Click the SimControls tab.
For the flow solver, change the parameter values in the Flow Solver subgroup.Select the Time Step (Steady State) check box and type a value in the box, which sets the steady state time step as a fraction of the physical time scale for the model.Select the Convergence Criteria check box and type a value in the box, which controls the convergence criteria for the flow solver.
For the thermal solver, change the parameter values in the Thermal subgroup.Select the Max Temperature check box and type a value in the box, which modifies the maximum temperature change of any element between two consecutive iterations.Select the Convergence Criteria check box and type a value in the box, which controls the convergence criteria for the thermal solver.
Click Apply.
(Optional) In the Solution Monitor, click Graph(s) and choose Convergence→Current Step to view how the updated parameters affect the solution convergence.
