Post-buckling analysis (Simcenter Samcef)
At buckling, the stiffness of a structural model is singular. To solve past the singularity and predict the post-buckling response of the structure, you can solve a Simcenter Samcef Linear Static Analysis or a Simcenter Samcef Nonlinear Analysis solution.
Chaining with a Nonlinear Analysis
After a Simcenter Samcef Standalone Buckling Analysis solution, you solve a Simcenter Samcef Nonlinear Analysis solution and you choose the Initial Imperfection for non-linear analysis chaining type in the Chaining page of the solution.
In the Simcenter Samcef Nonlinear Analysis solution, you select either a previous standalone buckling solution in the current model, or the results file of an externally solved standalone buckling solution.
Note:
You can optionally include nonlinearities as plasticity or contacts.
Classical Newton methods cannot converge when passing a flip point, such as when the load versus displacement curve has decreasing time steps. In this case, you may want to set up arc-length corrector methods to solve past the problem. For more information, see Arc-length corrector methods (Simcenter Samcef).

Chaining with a Linear Static Analysis
After a Simcenter Samcef Standalone Buckling Analysis solution, you solve a Simcenter Samcef Linear Static Analysis solution and you choose the Static with initial imperfection chaining type in the Chaining page of the solution.
In the Simcenter Samcef Linear Static Analysis solution, you select either a previous standalone buckling solution in the current model, or the results file of an externally solved standalone buckling solution.
For more information, see Chaining with a linear static solution (Simcenter Samcef).
