Multiple Fluid materials
The Multiple Fluid material type lets you define a primary fluid material and up to five additional fluid materials.
The thermal solver uses the specified primary fluid material properties during computation. The identification number of the additional fluid materials can be passed as an argument to some CAE fluid-thermal functions or user-defined functions.
You define multiple fluid materials in the following boundary condition loads:
Thermal Convecting Zone
Thermal Stream
Thermal Void
You must use the functions in the same boundary condition where you define the multiple fluid material. The functions can be used when you define magnitude values for your boundary conditions.
Example: Using a multiple fluid material to define mass flow in a thermal stream
When you define a mass flow of a stream that is proportional to the density of helium gas, but the fluid material of the stream is air, you must:
Create a multiple fluid material that has air as the primary material and helium gas as one of its additional fluid materials. For example, in the Multiple Fluid Material dialog box, set:Primary Fluid Material groupFluid = Air****Additional Fluid Materials groupFluid 1 = MyAir****Fluid 2 = Argon_Ar_Gas****Fluid 3 = Helium_GasNote: This multiple fluid material has MyAir and argon gas as other additional fluid materials.
Create a thermal stream and set Fluid Materials to the multiple fluid material that you created.
In the Mass Flow box, enter the following expression:DENSFL(fluid_temperature,pressure,3)/1[kg/mm^3]The identification number 3 in the expression indicates that the thermal solver will compute the density of the helium gas using the temperature and pressure of each element.
