Supported solution types for adaptive meshing
| Solution type | Solvers | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Linear statics analysis | Simcenter Nastran, MSC Nastran, Abaqus, ANSYS | The mesh error is calculated by the software during the adaptivity process. |
| Modal analysis | Simcenter Nastran, MSC Nastran (SOL 103 - Real Eigenvalues)ANSYS | The mesh error is calculated by the software during the adaptivity process. |
| Thermal analysis (steady-state and transient) | Thermal | The mesh error is calculated by the Simcenter 3D Thermal solver during the adaptivity process. |
| Coupled thermal and structural (linear and nonlinear) analyses | Multiphysics | The thermal and structural mesh errors are calculated independently.Simcenter 3D Thermal calculates the thermal error.Simcenter Nastran calculates the structural error. The thermal and structural solvers output independent mesh error values. |
| Mapping solution | Simcenter Nastran, Multiphysics, MSC Nastran, Abaqus, ANSYS | You can include one mapping solution in the adaptive process. For example, you can include a mapping solution with a linear statics solution to update the temperature loads in the statics solution. The software solves the mapping solution prior to solving the main solution in each iteration. The software then provides the results from the mapping solution to the primary solution. |
