Reuse thermal solution data in a modified or different solution

In certain cases, after a solution has run or has been paused, you may want to reuse data that was calculated. For example, for a model with the same geometry but different thermo-optical properties, the view factors are the same. View factor calculation is an expensive computational process, hence reusing previously calculated view factors saves you time.

The solution you select must be one in which the solution data you want to reuse is already calculated

This example shows how to re-solve Solution 1, reusing view factors that were previously calculated.

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click Solution 1 and choose Edit.

  2. Select the Perform Restart check box.

  3. Expand the Options group.

  4. From the Black Body View Factors list, select Reuse previous — Do not calculate.

  5. Click OK.

  6. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Solution 1 node and choose Solve.
