Create a Mesh Collector

You can create a new mesh collector or clone an existing one.

Creating a new mesh collector

  1. Open the Mesh Collector dialog box.To create a new, empty mesh collector, choose InsertMesh Collector, or choose Home tab→Properties group→Mesh Collector .In the Simulation Navigator, right-click a mesh collector group node, and choose New Collector. To create a destination collector for a 0D, 1D, 2D or 3D mesh, in the Destination Collector group in meshing dialog box, clear the Automatic Mode check box and click New Collector .

  2. In the Element Topology group, specify the element family and collector type.Note: If you open the Mesh Collector dialog box from a mesh creation dialog box, the element family and type are set automatically.

  3. ANSYS, Simcenter 3D Thermal/Flow, Simcenter 3D Electronic Systems Cooling, and Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal onlyAssign a material to the mesh. Select a material from the list, or click Choose material to define a new material.

  4. Assign physical properties to the mesh as required:If required, select the element physical property table type from the Type list To use an existing physical property table, select the table from the list. Optionally, click Edit to modify the selected physical property table. To create a new physical property table click Create Physical .

  5. Thermal/Flow, Electronic Systems Cooling, and Space Systems Thermal onlySpecify any additional options in the Properties group, such as Thermo-Optical Properties.

  6. In the Properties group, enter a name for the mesh collector.

The new mesh collector appears in the Simulation Navigator. Any mesh assigned to this collector appears as a child of the mesh collector node.

Cloning an existing mesh collector

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click an existing mesh collector.

  2. Choose Clone .The new collector displays in the list with the same name as the original, with a number appended to it. For example, if you clone a mesh collector with the name PSOLID 1, the new mesh collector name is PSOLID 1_1.

  3. Right-click the new mesh collector and choose Edit to modify the mesh collector properties and rename it if you wish.
