MATS1 bulk data entry export
In Simcenter Nastran and MSC Nastran, the MATS1 bulk entry specifies stress-dependent material properties for use in applications involving nonlinear materials. When you solve your model or write out your Nastran input file, such as through the File→Export→Simulation command, the software creates a MATS1 bulk entry in the Nastran input file based on the specified Stress/Strain table of the associated isotropic material for the following solution sequences:
SOL 106
SOL 129
SOL 401
SOL 402
SOL 601, 106 and SOL 601, 129
SOL 701
The software exports the MATS1 bulk entry as follows:
The TYPE field in the MATS1 bulk entry is exported as NLELAST, PLASTIC, or PLSTRN depending on the solution type. For details, see Specifying stress-strain data for nonlinear materials.
(SOLs 401 and 402) The YF (yield function criterion) field in the MATS1 bulk entry is hard coded to a value of 1. This specifies Von Mises stress.
(SOL 401) The HR (hardening rule) field in the MATS1 bulk entry is supported as follows:When a bilinear stress-strain representation is defined, all three hardening rules (isotropic, kinematic, and mixed) are supported. When a multilinear stress-strain representation is defined, only the isotropic hardening rule is supported.(SOL 402) The HR (hardening rule) field in the MATS1 bulk entry allows isotropic, kinematic, and mixed hardening.
The LIMIT1 field in the MATS1 bulk entry is equal to the Yield Strength value specified in the Materials dialog box.
The LIMIT2 field in the MATS1 bulk entry is not needed when YF is set to Von Mises or Tresca.
The first point on the curve is located at (0.0, 0.0), and the second point is located at (Ys/E, Ys). These points are automatically created by the software. This results in a slope of E where Ys is the Yield Strength value and E is the Young's Modulus. The software then adds all points in the stress-strain curve that are greater than Ys/E to the curve.
If you do not specify a value for the Young's Modulus field in the Materials dialog box, you must specify values for both the Shear Modulus (G) and Poisson's Ratio (ν) fields.
Additional export information for SOLs 401 and 402
Your setting for Stress-Strain Input Data Type in the Materials dialog box determines how stress-strain measures are exported in the MATS1 bulk entry.
When you select Engineering Stress-Strain or Engineering-Plastic Strain, the MATS1 bulk entry is exported with the STRMEAS field set to ENG.
When you select True Stress-Log Strain or True Stress-Plastic Strain, the MATS1 bulk entry is exported with the STRMEAS field set to TRUE.
