Rotation dialog box
| Type | |
|---|---|
| Appears when the solver is Simcenter Nastran, Simcenter 3D Multiphysics, Simcenter 3D Thermal, ANSYS, Abaqus, or Samcef. Not all Type options are available for all solvers. | |
| Type | Controls how you define the rotation load.Whole ModelApplies the rotation load to the whole model. To apply the rotation to models in both the Simcenter Nastran Axisymmetric Structural and Structural with a 2D Solid Option environments, select Whole Model ZX or Whole Model XY.To apply the rotation to models in the Samcef Axisymmetric and Other 2D Structural environment with a 2D Solid Option, select Whole Model ZX or Whole Model XY.Rotor Dynamics Whole ModelApplies the rotation load to the whole model. When selected, the Options group appears. The options in the Options group allow you to exclude gyroscopic forces or centrifugal forces from a SOL 101 maneuver load analysis. This option is not available for the Simcenter Nastran Axisymmetric Structural and Structural with a 2D Solid Option environments.Model SubsetApplies the rotation load to portions of the model that you select. To apply the rotation to models in both the Simcenter Nastran Axisymmetric Structural and Structural with a 2D Solid Option environments, select Model Subset ZX or Model Subset XY.To apply the rotation to models in the Samcef Axisymmetric and Other 2D Structural environment with a 2D Solid Option, select Model Subset ZX or Model Subset XY.OriginAvailable when the solver is ANSYS.Applies the rotation load to the whole model. You specify the components of the angular velocity and acceleration about the global origin. |
| Destination Folder | |
| Load Container | Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition is stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container. To view a hierarchical list of existing folders, click Folder Manager . To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder. |
| Model Object | |
| Group Reference | Appears when Type is set to Model Subset, Model Subset ZX, or Model Subset XY.Lets you apply the rotation to a group. For more information, see Group Reference options. |
| Select Object | Selects the geometry or FE entities on which the rotation load is applied.Note: The entire model is selected by default unless Simcenter Nastran or Samcef is the solver and Type is set to Model Subset, Model Subset ZX, or Model Subset XY. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| Excluded | Lets you remove individual entities from within the selected object. |
| Direction | |
| Axis of Rotation | Defines the axis of rotation.Global Cyclic AnalysisAppears when the global cyclic analysis coordinate system is defined in the FEM.Sets the axis of rotation to the Z-axis of the global cyclic analysis coordinate system.User-DefinedLets you define the axis of rotation. |
| Specify Vector | Appears when Axis of Rotation is set to User-Defined.Also appears in the Samcef Axisymmetric and Other 2D Structural environment.Defines the axis of rotation. For more information, see Vector dialog box.To reverse the direction of the vector, click Reverse Direction . |
| Specify Point | Appears when Axis of Rotation is set to User-Defined.Defines a point through which the axis of rotation passes. For more information, see Point dialog box. |
| Properties | |
| Angular Acceleration | Sets the magnitude of the acceleration. For more information, see Additional magnitude options. |
| Specify Field | Appears when Angular Acceleration is set to Field.Lets you select or create a field. |
| Scale Factor | Appears when Angular Acceleration is set to Field.Sets a scale factor for the load magnitude. |
| Angular Velocity | Sets the magnitude of the velocity. For more information, see Additional magnitude options. |
| Card Name | Displays the name of the solver card for the load. |
| Scaling | |
| Appears when the specified solver is LS-DYNA. | |
| Load curve (LCID) | Lets you select or define a DEFINE_CURVE modeling object that specifies how the rotation varies with time. |
| Load curve for dynamic relaxation (LCIDDR) | Lets you select or define a DEFINE_CURVE modeling object that specifies how to ramp the rotation during the dynamic relaxation phase of the analysis. After the dynamic relaxation phase, the software holds the load value constant until the solution converges.. |
| Velocity | |
| Appears when the specified solver is ANSYS, and Type is set to Origin. | |
| Velocity | Specifies how you want to define the angular velocity. |
| Specify Field | Appears when the Velocity list is set to Field.Lets you select or create a field. |
| VxVyVz | When you specify the angular velocity using expressions, sets the components of the angular velocity. When you specify the angular velocity using a field, sets the scale factor for each component. |
| Acceleration | |
| Appears when the specified solver is ANSYS, and Type is set to Origin. | |
| Acceleration | Specifies how you want to define the angular acceleration. |
| Specify Field | Appears when the Acceleration list is set to Field.Lets you select or create a field. |
| AxAyAz | When you specify the angular acceleration using expressions, sets the components of the angular acceleration. When you specify the angular acceleration using a field, sets the scale factor for each component. |
| Options | |
| Appears when the specified solver is Simcenter Nastran, the specified solution type is SOL 101 (for maneuver load analysis), and Type is set to Rotor Dynamics Whole Model. | |
| Calculation Option | Controls the forces that the software includes in the analysis.Centrifugal and GyroscopicIncludes centrifugal and gyroscopic forces.Centrifugal OnlyIncludes centrifugal force only.Gyroscopic OnlyIncludes gyroscopic force only. For more information, see Maneuver load analysis. |
