Advanced Controls

Use an Advanced Controls simulation object to define additional solver settings and special boundary conditions.

Advanced Controls types

Advanced Parameter

Lets you include one or more advanced parameters in the solution to define additional solver settings. The purpose and operation of each parameter is listed under the Description section of the Catalog dialog box. You have to create a separate Advanced Parameter for each solver setting that you want to modify.

Generic Entity

Lets you include one or more generic entities in the solution to apply special boundary conditions to the model or special solver options to the solution. The specific purpose and functionality of a generic entity, as well as the impact on the solution is completely dependent on values you enter in the Advanced Controls dialog box. If necessary, the generic entity is applied to elements you identity in Set 1 Region and Set 2 Region. You can locate the set on elements associated to a selected geometry or a selected group.

Generic Entity types

Generic

Is defined by the text strings you enter in the Type and Subtype fields. The solver recognizes these two text strings and uses them to interpret and apply the real and integer values specified in the other fields.

Note:

Both the thermal and flow solvers support the Generic type.

INPF Card

Inserts parameter keywords and values into the input file of the current solution, changing the behavior of the thermal solver. These parameters may activate or deactivate a feature of the solver, or instruct it to treat certain data types differently than it normally would. The Text Input is written to the INPF file in the card block specified in the Card Number field.

Note:

Only the thermal solver supports the INPF Card type.
