Create an excitation function

To create a function excitation, you must select Function from the Excitation Type list in the Static Durability Event dialog box when you create a static event.

In the Simulation Navigator , right-click the static durability event node and choose New Excitation.

  1. From the list of subcases, select a subcase.

  2. Click to create a new AFU table function or select an existing one.

  3. From the function list, select the general AFU table function that represents one cycle of the load excitation or click to create a new AFU table function.Only functions contained in all loaded AFU files are displayed. To load an AFU file, open the XY Function Navigator , under the AFU Files - XY Tabular Functions node, right-click the AFU node with the Simulation file name, and choose Load All. You can also right-click the User AFU node and choose Open or Open Directory.

  4. (Optional) To preview the function, in the Preview group, click .

  5. Click OK.

  6. In the Scale box, type a scaling factor.

  7. In the Offset box, type an offset value for the excitation load.

  8. Click OK.

You get a function excitation node under the static event node in the Simulation Navigator.
