Manage data sources

Display information about a data source

You can display information about the available data in a selected data source. The information can provide you with insight about what scenarios you can plot with a given data source.

  1. In the Scenario-Based Visualization Navigator, under the Data Sources node, right-click a data source, and choose Information.

  2. Close the Information window.

Edit the source of data for a data source

  1. In the Scenario-Based Visualization Navigator, under the Data Sources node, right-click a data source and choose Edit.

  2. Do one of the following:To load data from an external file, select External File and type a new path and results name or click Browse to navigate to and select a file.To load the data source from the Simulation Navigator, select From Navigator and select the data source you want from the Simulation Navigator.

  3. Depending on the type of data source, set its format and how you want the data interpreted and displayed. For more information about the settings, see the Define Data Source dialog box (external file).

  4. Click OK.

Rename a data source

  1. In the Scenario-Based Visualization Navigator, under the Data Sources node, right-click a data source and choose Rename.

  2. Type a new name in the text box and press Enter.

Delete a data source

If you delete a data source whose data is currently being used in a scenario, any existing plots in viewports are deleted as well.

  • In the Scenario-Based Visualization Navigator, under the Data Sources node, right-click a data source and choose Remove.

Refresh data sources

The software periodically checks if a data source is out of date and displays a status indicator in the Scenario-Based Visualization Navigator if it is and should be refreshed. For more information, see Synchronization of data sources.

Note:

Refreshing data sources can take a significant amount of time.

To refresh all data sources:

  • In the Scenario-Based Visualization Navigator, select the Data Sources node and choose Refresh.

To refresh selected data sources:

  • In the Scenario-Based Visualization Navigator, under the Data Sources node, select a data source and choose Refresh .
