Porous materials
Porous materials let you dampen acoustic wave propagation. These materials typically consist of a solid skeleton with pores or interstices. Acoustic waves can propagate through them.
You can use porous materials to model 3D acoustic absorbers by applying them to the elements in 3D solid mesh collectors. In Simcenter Nastran solutions, the porous material properties are written to the MATPOR bulk data entry.
In a Simcenter Nastran Acoustic or Vibro-Acoustic analysis, the Assign Materials, Manage Materials, and Physical Properties dialog boxes let you select the Porous material type. You can then select the following material models on the Porous Material dialog box:
Craggs
Delany-Bazley-Miki
Johnson-Champoux-Allard
For more information about porous materials and their material properties, see Defining porous or equivalent porous materials.
