Create an objective from a result measure
You can create a geometry optimization objective from responses extracted from your analysis results, such as displacement, stress, strain, temperature, and so on.
In the Geometry Optimization dialog box, select Define Objective. Note: You can define only one objective for each optimization.
From the Type list, select Result Measure.
Click Result Measures .
In the Result Measure Manager dialog box, click New .
In the Result Measure dialog box, select the solved solution and the type of results to extract for the optimization response. For steps to create a result measure, see Create and update a result measure.Caution: Geometry Optimization does not support result measures with Model Subset Selection set to Finite Element.
Click OK to return to the Result Measure Manager dialog box and then click Close to return to the Geometry Optimization dialog box.Tip: You can create result measures outside of Geometry Optimization, even before you create the optimization solution process. Then, in the objective or constraint dialog box, when you set Type to Result Measure, the dialog box lists all existing valid result measures that you can use for optimization.
In the Parameters group, select Minimize, Maximize, or Target. Depending on your selection, the objective is minimized, maximized, or it targets a value that you specify.
If you selected Target, type a value in the Target Value box for the objective.
Click Next to proceed to the Define Constraints step of the optimization setup.
