Solution dialog box (Nastran)

Solution
Name Specifies the name of the solution.Note: Do not use a comma (,) in the solution name. Avoid blanks and special characters (for example, @ and &).
Solver Specifies the solver for the solution.
Analysis Type Specifies the analysis, for example, structural, thermal, axisymmetric, acoustic, vibro-acoustic, aeroelastic, or rotor dynamics.
2D Solid Option Identifies the plane on which you can create axisymmetric elements. Also identifies the axis of rotation for axisymmetric elements. The solution uses the 2D Solid Option value that was set for the associated FEM file. You cannot modify this value.
Solution Type Specifies the solution type.
Condition Sequence Appears when you edit a solution that was created from a condition sequence.Specifies the condition sequence for the solution.
Transient Integration Options
These options are available only when:The Simulation includes a defined condition sequence. You select New Solution from Condition Sequence. You choose a transient or advanced nonlinear solution type.Transient Integration Options define how condition sequence time history information is translated into time-dependent boundary conditions and time-step settings.
Option Specifies the integration method:Step sizeIntegrates time history data based on the specified step duration in seconds, minutes, or hours.Number of time stepsIntegrates time history data based on the total number of time steps in the condition sequence.
Step size Specifies the duration of a single time step.
Number of steps Specifies the total number of time steps in the transient solution.
Subcase and Boundary Condition Creation
Appears when the solution is created from a load recipe.
Subcase Type Specifies the integration method, for example:SOL 108 Direct Frequency Response — Direct Frequency SubcaseSOL108 Direct Frequency Response Functions — Direct Frequency Response Functions SubcaseSOL 111 Modal Frequency Response — Modal Frequency SubcaseSOL 111 Modal Frequency Response Functions — Modal Frequency Response Functions SubcaseSOL 200 Design Optimization — Desopt Direct Subcase or Desopt Modal Subcase
Load or Boundary Condition Type Specifies the type of boundary condition to be created:SeparatedLoad sets and boundary conditions are created per function.AggregatedBoundary conditions are created as a grouped alternative to separated boundary conditions.Note: An aggregated boundary condition reduces the number of objects created in the Simulation Navigator, which improves the creation and update time of the load recipe-based solutions.Aggregated boundary conditions are not editable.File ReferenceBoundary conditions are created as the result of a source file reference to solver language-specific boundary conditions.Note: File reference boundary conditions generate the same number of boundary conditions as defined in the referenced source file, which creates a large number of objects in the Simulation Navigator. You can edit subcases of separated boundary conditions, but you cannot edit loads separately.
Information Displays information about the boundary condition support for each mapped load type parameter in the load recipe based on the current configuration of the solution.
Computation Options Appears when Solution Type is set to SOL 414,103 Eigenvalues and Superelement Reduction.Specifies the type of analysis you want to perform.EigenvaluesComputes the modes of the structure at rest, with no rotating parts.Superelement ReductionGenerates a reduced model of the specified rotors. In a rotor dynamics superelement analysis, you use both solutions to validate the model before you add loads, constraints, and rotations to the rotor.
