Teamcenter Integration for Simulation
Create new FEM and Simulation files in Teamcenter Integration mode
If you are in Teamcenter Integration mode using the Teamcenter for Simulation data model and you select New FEM and Simulation, there is no separate New FEM and Simulation dialog box. Instead, the software automatically prompts you through the steps of creating the FEM file and then the Simulation file.
Open the New Part File dialog box by doing one of the following:Right-click the master part or idealized part node in the Simulation Navigator, and choose New FEM and Simulation.Right-click the master part or idealized part node in the Simulation File View subpanel of the Simulation Navigator, and choose New FEM and Simulation.
In the New Part File dialog box, select a FEM template.
Enter an ID, Name, and Revision for the new part, or double-click any field with an asterisk (*) to generate unique identifiers.
If necessary, click Specify folder to change the Teamcenter folder where the revision item is managed.
Click OK.The New FEM dialog box is displayed.
FEM files are typically associated with an idealized part. The idealized part is an assembly that contains the master part as a component. All geometry idealization is performed on the idealized part. Enter an ID, Name, and Revision for the idealized part, or double-click any field with an asterisk (*) to automatically generate unique identifiers. If necessary, click Specify folder to change the Teamcenter folder where the idealized part revision item is managed. To create a FEM that is associated directly to a master part (that is, if you are not performing any geometry idealization), clear the Create Idealized Part check box.
If your part contains multiple solid or sheet bodies, specify the bodies to include in the FEM. From the Bodies to Use list:Choose All Visible (the default) to automatically include all solid or sheet bodies currently displayed in the idealized part and FEM.Choose All to automatically include all solid or sheet bodies, including hidden bodies, in the idealized part and FEM.Note: Because lightweight facet bodies contain no polygon edge or face data, you cannot create a FEM on lightweight facet representations in assembly reference sets. If you create a new FEM with the All option selected, the software skips any lightweight facet bodies in the assembly part. Choose Select to include only selected bodies in the idealized part and FEM. When you click Select Bodies, the Type Filter and Selection Scope become active, and you can select solid or sheet bodies in the graphics window. Facet bodies are not selectable.Choose None to create an idealized part that contains no bodies from the master part.
(Optional) To include CAD reference geometry, such as points, curves, or coordinate systems, click Geometry Options and select the geometry to include.
Choose the solver package you want to use.
Choose the type of analysis you want to perform.
Click OK.The software displays the New Part File dialog box again, displaying the appropriate Simulation templates.
In the New Part File dialog box, select a Simulation template.
Enter an ID, Name, and Revision for the new part, or double-click any field with an asterisk (*) to automatically generate unique identifiers.
(Optional) You can click Attributes to view or define other Teamcenter attributes, such as Part Type, Part Unit of Measure, and Part Description.
If necessary, click Specify folder to change the Teamcenter folder where the revision item is managed.
Click OK.The New Simulation dialog box is displayed.
Choose a layer to place the simulation on:Work places the simulation on the current work layer.Use Original places the simulation on the same layer as the FEM it is associated with.
(Optional) Enter a description of the Simulation.
Click OK.The software names and creates the Simulation file. The software then immediately prompts you to create a solution. You can either create the solution, or wait until later to create one or more solutions. The new Simulation is displayed in the Graphics window. The Simulation Navigator displays the new Simulation item revision, the FEM item revision, and the new solution. It also includes containers for boundary conditions and entities such as coordinate systems or groups. mypart_sim/A mypart_fem/A CSYS Groups Fields Regions Simulation Object Container Constraint Container Load Container Solution 1 Simulation Objects Constraints Subcase – Static Loads 1 Loads
